Trumpeter Guy Touvron dismissed rape charges against him on Wednesday.
He also resigned from the presidency of the festival Les Grandes heures de Cluny to “
devote himself to his defense
”.

For two days I have noticed a completely unfounded media campaign against me!
He said in an email.
On Monday, the Paris prosecutor's office confirmed to AFP information from
Le Point
magazine
that the trumpeter is the target of a complaint filed by a 25-year-old musician.
The first judicial police district of Paris is seized of the investigation.

“
To my knowledge, no complaint has been brought against me,
” wrote Guy Touvron in his email.
“
I therefore ask you to rectify as a matter of urgency this media campaign which defames me and which taints my image and my honor.
I reserve the right to take this matter to court,
”he added.

In a separate press release, broadcast by Les Grandes Heures de Cluny, in Saône-et-Loire, this classical music festival announces the resignation of Guy Touvron from his presidency.

Guy Touvron rejects the accusations made against him. Nevertheless, in order not to harm the organization of the Festival des Grandes heures de Cluny and devote himself to its defense, he resigned from his post of president,
”the festival said.
The board of directors of the Grandes heures will meet from May 15 “
to decide on the next edition of the festival and organize the future,
” adds the

release signed by the festival treasurer Patrick Simon.
Disciple of Maurice André, a great classical French trumpeter who helped popularize this instrument, Guy Touvron, 71, is one of the most renowned French trumpeters.
This international soloist with an eclectic repertoire, from classical to variety, has performed at a few thousand concerts in the most prestigious halls of the world and recorded more than 120 albums in 50 years of career, including recently one dedicated exclusively to female composers with the pianist Dana Ciocarlie.
