The Schlei region with Eckernförde and the district of North Friesland with the holiday island of Sylt are already looking forward to numerous tourists who use the model projects to escape everyday corona.
Now, finally, a third holiday region is to follow in Schleswig-Holstein - the plans have been in place for a long time, but the meanwhile increasing corona incidence has thwarted this for the time being.
But now the next - and presumably successful - attempt follows: The inner bay of Lübeck is planning to open to tourism on May 8th.
Baltic Sea vacation at Timmendorfer Strand: It starts on May 8th
With the opening on Saturday, the
coastal towns of Niendorf, Timmendorfer Strand, Scharbeutz, Haffkrug, Sierksdorf and Neustadt, Pelzerhaken and Rettin can
finally welcome holidaymakers to the region again.
The Ostholstein district decided on Wednesday (May 5th).
The 7-day incidence is still above the value of 50 and is thus higher than in the other regions that are currently carrying out model projects, but the trend is generally downwards, according to a press release from the district.
Vacation on the Baltic Sea: These corona rules apply in the Ostholstein model region
The Ostholstein district is currently preparing a general decree that provides for exceptions to the Corona Control Ordinance specifically for the tourist model project.
This means that the easing will be spatially limited to the communities of Timmendorfer Strand, Scharbeutz and Sierksdorf as well as the city of Neustadt in Holstein.
Contact tracking is to be ensured via the "Luca" app.

300 companies will take part
in the project
. We try to rule out with the highest possible certainty that infected people come to Ostholstein through the strict test regime, ”said District Administrator Reinhard Sager according to the press release. According to a report by the

concept provides for
regular corona tests on arrival and during the stay.
Self-tests are not enough
. The model project is initially set for a period of four weeks - with the option of an extension if everything goes well. Conversely, the project can also be terminated prematurely if the corona incidence rises again.
