There should be more openings in May.

While this is shifting in Miesbach due to the corona incidence, restaurateurs and hoteliers are preparing for the opening.

District - If the incidence is stable below 100, guests are allowed to sit in beer gardens from May 10th - and stay in hotels from May 21st.

In the district of Miesbach, the incidence is currently still at 130. Nevertheless, restaurateurs and hoteliers are already preparing for the opening under high pressure.

In order to keep the distances on the terrace, some guests of the Rote Wand in Geitau had to sit in the meadow last early summer.

“Surprisingly, that was our most popular row of tables,” says Michael Gaukler (26), junior manager of the hotel inn.

In order to be even better equipped for the opening of the outdoor catering this year, the jugglers have redesigned their garden.

Three tables at a time are grouped on a roundel lined with plants and shaded by an umbrella.

However, the number of seats on the terrace and beer garden remains unchanged at almost 200. “We just wanted to increase the spacing,” emphasizes Gaukler.

Not just because of Corona.

“It's also so pleasant when you don't sit back to back,” the junior boss is convinced.

Should the jugglers be allowed to rent out their 70 beds in the inn and in the neighboring guest house again from the Whitsun holidays, the summer season would probably be saved.

In terms of personnel, jugglers do not see any bottlenecks on the Rote Wand.

"As a family business," says the junior boss, "it's a lot easier for us."

Corona easing: conference hotel is preparing - "Confidence in our industry has suffered a lot due to lockdown"

Vacationers usually do not belong to the regular clientele of the Bayerischer Hof in Miesbach.

But as early as the summer of 2020 it was shown that in view of the high demand for holidays at Tegernsee and Schliersee due to the corona, including the corresponding price range, many tourists have discovered Miesbach for themselves, reports hotel manager Uwe Schulze-Clewing.

He expects a similar trend this year.

The medical and psychological follow-up seminars for returnees from the Bundeswehr in Afghanistan are already starting again at the Bayerischer Hof.

Schulze-Clewing expects 50 to 60 guests.

Company events were canceled until July.

Starting up operations is not that easy, emphasizes the managing director. After such a long shutdown, the entire building technology had to be maintained intensively, and some personnel had to be dealt with. Reception employees have switched to law firms or tax offices, and a bartender has started his own lottery business. “Confidence in our industry suffered a lot as a result of the lockdowns,” Schulze-Clewing regrets. Overall, however, the loyalty of the staff is great. Some employees even came voluntarily to paint or clean.

Christian Kausch, Managing Director of Tegernseer Tal Tourismus GmbH (TTT) knows that this cannot be taken for granted.

“Many employees from the catering industry have now moved to other jobs,” he says.

These forces - and those who moved to their homeland because of the insufficient short-time work allowance - must now be brought back.

"But that is not so easy and not so fast."

Corona in the district of Miesbach: Beer garden opening in Valley

At the bar hostess in Kreuzstrasse, the tenant Erika Titsch came up with something special during the lockdown to keep her employees.

“We market our to-go business with the delivery service from Lieferando,” says the 49-year-old.

You can't earn a lot of money with it - "but there are a lot of orders coming in and everyone is busy".

For this reason, Titsch is happy when she can reopen her beer garden in the Valley community.

“As far as I am concerned, also overnight - our regular cast is ready.” The lessee is only unsure about the implementation: “We don't know when it is really worthwhile to set up tables, what distance must be maintained and whether we will can already hire seasonal temporary workers. "

Corona easing in Bavaria: Owner of holiday apartments is waiting for guests

Birgit Trinkl, manager of the holiday apartments of the same name in Bad Wiessee, also says: “The devil is in the details.” Most of her employees are on short-time work.

How much longer - that is completely unclear despite the opening perspective.

“I'm just as perplexed as before,” says Trinkl, who has closed her holiday apartments on Ludwig-Thoma-Strasse for eleven months.

She would be happy to enable guests to stay during the Whitsun holidays.

“But even when the store opens, nobody wants to rely on us not having to close again during their stay.” The Bad Wiesse landlord's order books are therefore still quite empty for the early summer.

"We have a lot of bookings for August, September and October."

Trinkl is happy about the opening perspective.

"But a start that cannot be planned in advance is difficult to market." Kausch agrees with this opinion: "Entrepreneurs absolutely need a clear perspective."
