It's a first.

Since Wednesday, future vaccinated at the Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines velodrome can now be disinfected from head to toe.

An “anti-Covid” gantry has just been installed at the entrance to the giant vaccinodrome, it should allow the elimination of “99.9% of viruses, bacteria and germs in just 5 seconds”, according to the manufacturer.

Distributed in Ile-de-France by the company First Distribution Soveclat (FDS) in Sartrouville, the disinfection tunnel will be tested for a month.

“It refreshes a bit,” says Régis, laughing. This inhabitant of the agglomeration submitted without batting an eyelid to the exercise of the sanitary portico when some, on the contrary, seem more skeptical. “What not to do! Plague an elderly person, taking care to bypass the tunnel. Others, on the other hand, have reactions that make you smile. "It's a little science fiction with steam and blue light," reacts a young woman. We'll be teleporting with all of this soon. "

After having to go through the security gantry, visitors to the giant vaccination center can now disinfect themselves under the sanitary gantry located at the entrance to the site.

"There is nothing obligatory," however specifies Eric Naszalyi, one of the two associates of FDS.

The device, already installed in several supermarkets in Corsica, is being tested in real conditions for the first time in Ile-de-France.

A large-scale test

"We are not on any site, we are on one of the largest vaccination centers in the region, reacts the business manager.

There is a lot of flow, so the idea is to use this test to understand if anything needs to change or be adjusted.

For example, I realize that the non-contact thermometer is a bit too high.

"

This experience is also an opportunity for the distributing company to benefit from "good visibility".

"Among the visitors, there will inevitably be local business leaders or human resources directors who may be interested in our tunnel, especially since there are many large companies in the area," notes Eric Naszalyi.

We would like that to serve as a reference.

Moreover, we are in discussion to also go to the Arena

Concretely, it is enough to pass under the gantry of 2.40 meters, possibly equipped with a stroller or a wheelchair, to stay there only five seconds to then come out disinfected of any virus and bacteria.

This ultra-rapid efficiency is explained by the combination of three levels of disinfection.

"Ultraviolet lights as well as ultrasound make it possible to weaken the envelope of the virus and hypochlorous acid attacks the nucleus directly", specifies the leader.

"It would be necessary at airports"

"It doesn't matter," Mikaela smiles as she exits the tunnel.

If the engineer considers that "it is very good for taking the temperature", she nevertheless seems more reserved about its effectiveness.

"I need scientific proof to be brought to me to be totally convinced."

Reception agent at the velodrome, Nicolas “thinks that we need education to explain to people how it works”.

"It works with UVCs and it is true that at the moment, we are receiving a lot of recommendations in theaters to replace existing lighting with new ones based on UVC", indicates the intermittent of the show who is working currently at the velodrome.

Enthusiastic about his experience, Régis believes that “it is necessary, at least for the moment, to install this kind of device in airports and places where there are a lot of people.

"

The distributing company lends the disinfection tunnel for the duration of the experiment, hoping that the test will lead to a sale.

The cost of a machine is around 7200 euros.
