Iran's representative to the United Nations, Zahra Irshadi, called on the international community to take immediate and effective measures to lift the illegal and unlawful embargo imposed on developing countries.
A number of Western countries, led by the United States of America, impose unilateral measures outside the framework of international legitimacy on states that practice an independent policy, maintain their sovereignty and refuse to submit to the dictates of Western countries.
In a speech before the sixth annual meeting of the Technology and Innovation Complex of the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations, Irshadi said that the international community must take immediate and effective steps to eliminate any unilateral arbitrary measures, including illegal and illegal embargo measures against developing countries, as they oppose the Charter of the United Nations and the basic principles of international laws. .
Irshadi added that such measures in the circumstances of the current Corona crisis create a serious obstacle to countries' efforts to confront this pandemic, especially as they target ordinary citizens and their right to life and health.
Irshadi also called for providing energies to developing countries and promoting regional and international cooperation in the field of science and technology, noting the role of science and technology in dealing with the global crisis of the Covid-19 epidemic.
