The Director of Agriculture in Sweida, Eng. Ayham Hamed, revealed preliminary estimates of producing 632 tons of forage crops for the current season within the cultivated areas that reached 24560 dunums, the estimated production being distributed over 364 tons for galbana, 180 tons for charcuterie and 88 tons for the rest.

In a statement to the SANA Economic Bulletin, Eng. Hamed pointed out that forage crops in As-Suwayda are cultivated in Al-Ula and are concentrated in the regions of Shahba, Salkhad and the Western region, and the reality of their growth is moderate to date due to the lack of rainfalls, stressing the importance of forage crops in securing part of the livestock needs from feed, especially in light of the high prices.

It is noteworthy that the total plan for the cultivation of pastoral forage crops for the current season amounted to 36900 dunums.
