It is a bright spot in corona times.

This summer there will be a twelve-day “culture fire” in Ebersberg in July and an open-air series of events in the entire district with 30 dates between June and September.

district

- The CSU / FDP district parliamentary group had taken up the topic, the concept comes from an alliance of cultural workers in the district. At least ten of the 21 district municipalities are to be involved in the series of events. Events from various cultural sectors are planned, from visual arts to theater, children's theater, cabaret, youth culture and music concerts. The focus of the overall concept should be in Ebersberg in June, in Markt Schwaben in July, in Grafing in August and in Poing and Moosach in September. A "conscientious hygiene concept" is a prerequisite in each case. The mobile “traveling stage” should make it possible to use it in places without their own infrastructure as well as events in unusual places. The aim is to include as many local and regional artists as possible in the overall concept. The event is intended to appeal to a wide audience, including children and young people.

Performing artists should be supported

This could support both artists who are particularly hard hit by the Corona crisis and offers for people of all ages interested in culture.

The “Kulturfeuer” in the district town is now an established series that has been taking place every two years in the historic monastery building yard since 2014, most recently under Corona conditions in 2020. The sponsoring association is the “old cinema”.

In view of the special situation, an unscheduled edition is to take place this year with an open-air program free of charge for visitors with performances from professionals to amateur artists.

"Wanderbühne" complements the concept

The concept is supplemented by a “traveling stage” that can move from place to place.

This stage should act as a symbol with recognition value: revitalization of the cultural scene in the district of Ebersberg, return of the quality of life and joie de vivre, solidarity and joint efforts to defy the challenges of the pandemic.

That leaves the finances.

The concept envisages costs of around 360,000 euros.

A large part could come from the Federal Cultural Foundation.

“From our point of view, we meet all the criteria,” said Markus Bachmeier from the “old cinema” at the meeting of the responsible district council, which promised a grant of 30,000 euros.

District Administrator Robert Niedergesäß (CSU) is also confident.

"I assume that it will work."

CFO doesn't want to be a drag on the fun

Part of the district grant, namely 10,000 euros, comes from funds for projects that could not be carried out due to Corona. These funds are to be used to purchase the mobile stage. A maximum of another 20,000 euros would be additional voluntary benefits. “I don't want to be a drag on the fun”, said Brigitte Keller, chief financial officer at the meeting. “But the money has to come from somewhere.” The talk was about saving on other voluntary benefits of the district. In addition, the Kreissparkasse had already given a grant of 25,000 euros in advance.
