The Minister of Industry, Ziad Sabbagh, was briefed on the reality of work in the Tartous Cement Company after the rehabilitation and operation of the fourth kiln in the company with the expertise of the local cadres working in it.

Minister Sabbagh pointed out in a press statement that rehabilitating the furnace and raising its production capacity to reach the basic design capabilities is an achievement that was accomplished by the expertise of the company’s workers as a result of their insistence on working to restart it completely.

In his turn, Engineer Hilal Moussa, General Manager of Tartous Cement Company, explained that the company has completed the comprehensive maintenance work of the fourth kiln and is currently under production, indicating that production will increase between 1000 and 1200 tons per day, equivalent to the production of the remaining three furnaces, which in turn are awaiting rehabilitation.

He stated that the rehabilitation of the third kiln will start soon after securing the necessary replacement parts until the rehabilitation and operation of all the company's kilns are completed, stressing that the expected production number will be reflected on cement deliveries from next Sunday, with an increase from 2000 to 2500 tons per day, and with the increase in production after the rehabilitation of the remaining lines will increase. The volume of deliveries to cover the needs of the local market.

During his subsequent meeting with the technical and labor cadres in the company, Minister Sabbagh listened to an explanation of the details of the work of restarting the fourth furnace, stressing that the implementation of the maintenance steps according to the timetable set by the working cadres contributed to the rehabilitation of the furnace and raising its production capacity despite the difficulties the company suffers from.

Minister Sabbagh stressed the need for concerted efforts to raise the production capacity of the company, which will positively affect the workers' situation in the first place by increasing the percentage of incentives and reaching the stage of sufficiency by relying on our national experiences, pointing out that the issue of settling the conditions of temporary and laid-off workers is one of the most important priorities of the next phase.

The Governor of Tartous, Safwan Abu Saada, indicated during the meeting the importance of benefiting from the refusals of the solid waste sorting plant in Wadi Al-Hada by generating the energy and fuel needed to operate the cement plant, as every 1.5 tons of refusals generate the equivalent of 1 ton of fuel, which contributes to solving the problem of fuel shortage and the accumulation of rejections.

The tour and meeting were attended by Director General of the General Cement Corporation, Eng. Muthanna Sarhan, and President of the Professional Union for Cement and Building Materials, Khalaf Hanoush.
