The first round of the Republic Cup competition began with women's basketball, with the participation of 12 teams: Al-Thawra, Al-Galaa, Qasim, Tishreen, Al-Wehda, Al-Ittihad, Al-Sahel, Al-Hurriya, Al-Orouba, Al-Ashrafiya, Al-Fayha and Al-Muhafaza
The results of the opening matches of the first round resulted in Al-Hurriya winning 51-48 points over Tishreen, so Tishreen advanced 7-6 points in the first quarter, while Al-Horreya advanced 9-8 in the second quarter. After the fourth quarter progressed 19-13 points.
Al-Sahel beat Al-Fayhaa after Al-Sahel outperformed Al-Sahel in the first, third and fourth quarters by 12-7 points, 16-12 points, and 7-19 points. The second quarter ended in favor of Al-Sahel by 7-10 points.
Al-Wehda defeated Al-Ashrafiya by 65-57 points, as Al-Wehda advanced 24-8 points in the first quarter, and the two teams tied in the second 10-10 points before Al-Wehda returned to progress in the third quarter 12-19, and the fourth ended in favor of Ashrafieh 12-27 points.
The tournament system stipulates, according to the lottery, that the participating teams play back and forth during the first round, by which the winners of the total of the two matches qualify to the quarter-finals.
