The Group of Seven (G7) foreign ministers meeting was held in London, England. American media reported on May 4 that the G7 was considering a proposal made by the United States to counter China's "economic coercion" in the eyes of the White House.
The report also stated that the meeting also discussed a proposal to establish a "Friends Of Hong Kong" organization.

The report quoted some officials as saying that a document had been circulated before the G7 foreign ministers’ meeting. An anonymous senior official of the US State Department stated that the meeting on May 4 spent about 90 minutes discussing China’s attempts to adopt the “Belt and Road” initiative or through promotion.
