The birthday of Tin Hau has always been a highly regarded program in Hong Kong, and all districts in Hong Kong will hold celebrations on March 23 of the Chinese calendar (May 4 of the new calendar).

This year, the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals also held the Yau Ma Tei Tin Hau Birthday to inherit the local traditional culture.

The birthday of the Queen of Yau Ma Tei was held yesterday (4th). The event invited the Chairman of the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals Mr. Tan Zhenguo, the Chairman of the Chinese Temples Committee’s Community Service Group Dr. Li Jiaxiang, the Chairman of Sik Sik Yuen, Mr. Ma Chak Wah, MH, CStJ, and the Chairman of the Intangible Cultural Heritage Funding Scheme Committee Chief Ye Changqing, the first vice chairman of MH and Ma Qingyang jointly officiated the ceremony, leading a group of board members to celebrate the birthday and reward the gods.

The 5 officiating guests first performed the "Respect and Cover the Seal Ceremony", and stamped the seals of "Wind", "Tune", "Rain", "Shun" and "Enlightenment" on "The Queen's Birthday Scroll". Wishful.

Afterwards, the "Firework Rushing to God Ceremony" was held. The firework team held up a giant firework nearly 4 meters high and rushed to the Tin Hau Temple to show respect to the Queen of Heaven and to celebrate the birthday of the Queen of Heaven.

There were also many wonderful performances in the Tin Hau Temple in Yau Ma Tei that day, including lion dances, Cantonese opera and face-changing performances. At the same time, there were a number of stalls displaying intangible cultural heritage, such as fan calligraphy and paper-cutting. There were also stalls for twisting balloons and traditional snacks. It is hoped to deepen citizens’ understanding of Chinese traditional culture and intangible cultural heritage.

In addition, the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals also specially arranged two free guided tours of the Tin Hau temple complex, leading the participants to appreciate the traditional cultural relics, so as to learn about the traditional temple culture and the history of the Tin Hau temple complex in Yau Ma Tei.
