Sometimes alternating, completely at your desk at home or with a quick test in the classroom: The back and forth causes many students to create.

Also the three boys of the Kübler family.

Geretsried - School lessons always look different in the course of the corona pandemic.

Homeschooling is currently popular again for students in the district.

The back and forth in the past twelve months has been a problem for many of the adolescents.

The three boys of the Kübler family are slowly but surely groaning under the exceptional situation.

Our newspaper visited the Geretsried high school students several times during the pandemic.

At the beginning - almost exactly a year ago - Jonathan (14), Jasper (twelve) and Moritz (eleven) were still somewhat curious and almost euphoric about learning at home.

The three of them are now quite frustrated.

Many possibilities of compensation are no longer available

"You sit at home all day, listen to online conferences for six hours and do the same thing the next day," summarizes Jasper.

The dissatisfaction with the situation is most noticeable in the seventh grader.

Also because many opportunities for compensation are no longer available.

Spending your free time in the dirt park, for example?

It does not work.

He's been banned for months.

Jasper also often spends her free time at home.

“We sit on top of each other a lot,” confirms Moritz.

The youngest of the three brothers is "actually coping quite well" with the exceptional situation, he says.

"But something goes wrong in the online lessons, sometimes classmates get in the way, then the technology doesn't work, or we get work orders that we don't understand."

If the home Wi-Fi is on strike - and the boys cannot go to their father's company - they have to follow the lesson over the phone.

“When the teachers then present something in the video, we don't know what it's about,” explains Jonathan.

That is not always necessary, "but sometimes it is important that you also see something and not just listen".

The 14-year-old missed the chemistry lesson shortly before the interview - "because the technology didn't work again," says Jonathan, visibly frustrated.

Even if the three Geretsried high school students are getting really annoyed by some aspects of learning at home, they know that it still works comparatively smoothly for them.

“Some of our classmates don't have their own laptop to use,” says Jonathan.

The fact that each of the Kübler boys can retreat to their own desk - if the Internet connection allows it - also makes it easier than if they had to share a room.

The boys miss normality

Jonathan, Jasper and Moritz still miss normality.

“The one week in which I was allowed to go back to school was really cool,” says eleven-year-old Moritz.

“I liked seeing all the classmates again, even if only half were there.” The quick test that he had to take for this did not spoil the joy.

"That wasn't that bad."

I would prefer to just be able to go to school again without Corona.

However, the seven-day incidence is currently too high again for these alternating lessons, with one half of the class studying at home and the other at school.

The uncertainty as to when it could be that time again worries the students.

"At the beginning we all had the feeling that we were already passing this time and had a goal in mind," says the boys' mother, Jennifer Kübler.

Nobody suspected that the three of them would be tied to their desks again a year later.

Jasper: "I would like to just be able to go to school again without Corona."
