- The new cycling map for the Freising region will appear in good time for the beginning of the cycling season.

The map in a modern design created by the tourism department in the Freising District Office is based on the current OSM (Open Street Map) map and contains around 20 different bike tour suggestions in addition to long-distance bike paths such as the Isar bike path and the four-star Ammer-Amper bike path.

The map also contains some new tour suggestions on the existing cycle path network, such as the 60-kilometer “Landpartie Amper-Glonn” or the 44-kilometer “Kleine Naturschleife Amper-Isar”. Particularly suitable tours for e-bike riders are marked with a corresponding "e-bike tip". This also includes the 88 kilometer long themed bike tour “To the origin of beer”, which combines the topics of purity law, hops and brewing culture and connects the Upper Bavarian beer towns of Ingolstadt and Freising. In cooperation with Ingolstadt Tourismus, the municipal company for structural development in the district of Pfaffenhofen, the Hopfenland Hallertau Tourismus eV and the Freising tourist information center, the tour along the WasserRadlWege Upper Bavaria was redesigned and prepared.Further information on the tours, GPS data and route descriptions can be found on the Internet at www.tourismus-kreis-freising.de/de/erlebnisse/radfahren-e-bike.

In addition to a brief description of the tours and their signage, the bike map contains a large part of the bike service.

There you will find information about bike-friendly bed + bike accommodations, bike workshops, e-bike charging stations as well as travel and bike transport with local public transport.

All service points are also marked directly on the map.

In addition, almost 50 tips and sights such as churches, museums, gardens, scenic features or leisure activities along the bike routes are listed and briefly described.

“The current cycle map offers those interested in cycling a compact overview of the long-distance cycle paths and cycle tours in the Freising district and provides helpful information for tour planning.

The map has been optimized even further through the registered sights and service points, thus offering locals and foreign guests a high level of utility, "summarizes Martina Mayer, tourism officer at the Freising district office.

The free bike map is now available from the district office, the Freising tourist information office and the town halls of the district communities.

It can also be ordered online.

Leisure bus is coming

Cyclists and day-trippers can look forward to another plus from Saturday, May 22nd.

Then the go-ahead will be given for the recreational buses with bike trailers that are already established in the Kelheim district.

What is new is that the line from Kelheim via Abensberg to Mainburg has now been extended to the city of Freising.

With this offer, cyclists, hikers and those interested in culture can be brought non-stop to the beautiful excursion destinations in the Kelheim and Freising regions on weekends and public holidays in both directions.
