"It's all about giving and helping."

Ido Ganor, a 44-year-old father of three from Herzliya, passed away suddenly last week.

Ganor, who was generally healthy, woke up on Saturday morning and felt severe pain in his head.

Within an hour and a half, he was rushed to the operating table at Beilinson Hospital in Petah Tikva in critical condition.

For long hours the surgeons fought for his life, but the three surgeries he underwent failed.

Four days later the doctors prescribed him a brain death.

Ganor had signed Eddie's card, his wife and parents honored his desire to donate his organs.

"Ido is a big and precious soul, all good. All giving and helping," his mother said.

Organ donations saved five people: at Beilinson Hospital, a 71-year-old man and a 64-year-old kidney were transplanted, at Ichilov, a 73-year-old man was transplanted and a 46-year-old man was transplanted into a liver, and a three-and-a-half-year-old toddler had a liver lobe transplanted at Schneider.

Harel Kochavi, a three-and-a-half-year-old from Ariel, has suffered from a metabolic disease since birth and needed an urgent liver donation. Recently, his parents were informed of the arrival of the long-awaited donation, and a liver lobe was implanted in Harel's body, which gave him his life as a gift.

"Already at the age of three days, Harel underwent dialysis," said his father, Omar. "In the last three years we have been in intensive care 6-5 times and then long hospitalizations, and on regular medication three times a day. Every little virus would have endangered it. We have been through three difficult and stressful years."

The father said that at first they wanted to transplant his liver into his son, but the transplant did not work out because he had a stomach ulcer. He said, "Then we went back to the top of the list. Then Harel fell ill in Corona so we were taken off the list. The phone call for a transplant was with a lot of mixed feelings of sadness and joy. It changed the whole family's life."

"We have not yet been able to reach the donor's family, I know what but it's for them. It hurts us for the grief they are experiencing now, but I would also like to donate organs and sign an Eddie card," Omar concluded.
