Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo, an electric Allroad


TEST - Based on its zero-emission sedan, the German manufacturer is offering an elevated and versatile station wagon version.

A Porsche that crosses the difficulties of a muddy and pitted road with incredible ease: until now, only the Cayenne or the Macan were capable of it.

We can now add the Taycan Cross Turismo.

A variation of the first 100% electric car from the German sports car manufacturer, this new model inherits from the Panamera Sport Turismo the elongated silhouette of a station wagon that it mixes with the attributes of the adventurer of an Audi Allroad.

Ground clearance raised up to 50 mm compared to the Taycan, protections attached to the wheel arches and sills, front and rear shoes, the Cross Turismo is thus armed to extend its journey where the asphalt turns into rugged path.

To this range are added an all-wheel drive and adaptive air suspension as standard.

Reaching the country house or the mountain chalet nestled at the end of a bumpy driveway becomes child's play.

An optional offroad pack (+ 1,656 euros) adds style elements ensuring better protection against gravel and raising the ground clearance by 10 mm in normal mode (+ 30 mm compared to the Taycan).

Its value is limited since in both cases, the maximum ground clearance is identical when the “gravel” and “lift” functions are activated.

With the Taycan 4S version, the ground clearance then peaks at 176 mm (+ 3 mm for the Turbo version).

Under these conditions, we tested it, the Cross Turismo deploys an astonishing ease.


Admittedly, there is no question of crossing but, it is already a lot, this raised station wagon can venture off-piste, type dirt road or snow-covered embellished with a strong slope.

A function also makes it possible to memorize on the GPS the place, the entrance to the property for example, where the suspension must be raised automatically.

The occupants are all the more impressed that everything takes place in astonishing silence.

No need to race the engine as you could with a thermal vehicle.

With the "gravel" mode, you have access to a different management of the accelerator.

The stroke seems to become longer and the system regulates the arrival of torque and power on its own.


When we leave the sunken lanes for the road, we find the services that make the salt of Taycan.

Despite a minimum ground clearance 22 mm higher than the Taycan, the adventurer version delivers similar and very pleasant sensations.

In addition to the silent operation characteristic of electric vehicles, performance propels passengers into a new world.

If the driving position is similar to that of a 911, forget the reference for thermal cars.

At start-up, the acceleration pushes you violently against the backrest, especially with the Turbo and Turbo S versions of 680 and 761 hp respectively with the overboost mode speeding the 0 to 100 km / h in 3.3 and 2.9 seconds.

And the vertiginous surge never seems to fade away.


In fact, passengers will have to hang on so as not to lose their bearings. With its 571 hp allowing to reach 100 km / h in 4.1 seconds, the 4S is the best compromise between performance, pleasure and autonomy, 452 km according to the manufacturer. At the start of our test, the computer announced 393 km. By switching to Comfort, Sport and Sport + modes, the range of action gradually decreases, going from 360 to 350 then to 337 km. On a German highway where you might be tempted to keep pace with a 911, it will melt like snow in the sun. But the battery, here with a capacity of 93.4 kWh, can recover 100 km of autonomy per section of 5.15 minutes on an Ionity type fast charging station delivering up to 270 kW. If we are a little tight to reach the next station,the Range mode limiting the speed to 120 km / h makes it possible to reduce consumption. The main obstacle to the use of this vehicle is the absence of ultra-fast terminals on the secondary network.


If the performances are breathtaking, it will be necessary to keep in mind when braking that, despite a weight gain contained at 25 kilos compared to the Taycan, this station wagon still accuses nearly 2.3 tons on the scale.

A higher engine brake when lifting the foot would have been welcome.

It gains in intensity with the Sport + mode which is also signaled by accelerations punctuated by a sound worthy of a centrifuge.

The station wagon silhouette guarantees the Cross Turismo superior versatility.

At the rear, the headroom increases by 45 mm.

Finally, thanks to a more practical rear hatch, the trunk gains 39 liters to offer 446 liters.


Without competition today in the electric car market, the Taycan Cross Turismo 4S appears to be the bargain of the range.

It charges less for its additional services than the equivalent Taycan 4S model.

The advantage is only 168 euros but it deserved to be underlined.
