A few months before the summer holidays, the month of May 2021 offers several bridges to the French, who will take the opportunity to go on a weekend with their family. The calendar and dates of the 2021 and 2022 school holidays, as well as zones A, B and C can be found below.


Following Emmanuel Macron's announcement concerning the deconfinement of France in four stages, French families are already starting to organize.

A few weeks before the summer holidays, the month of 2021 is an opportunity to take advantage of two public holidays which will allow some to extend their weekends.

Starting with Ascension Thursday on May 13, followed by Pentecost Monday on May 24.

Travel abroad remains "strictly discouraged" to Europe, prohibited beyond that, except for compelling reasons.

At the same time, Europe is working on the development of a "green passport", which would provide proof of vaccines, negative PCR tests ... and would allow travel with a minimum of constraints on the Old Continent, from the mid-June.

What are the dates of the 2021 and 2022 school holidays in each zone?

In 2021, primary, middle and high school students will also

cross the Ascension Bridge

, the dates of which run from Thursday May 13 to Monday May 17, 2021. The last bell of the 2020-2021 school year will sound on Tuesday July 6 , giving the start of the summer vacation.

During the year 2021-2022, classes will be held on Friday, May 27.

The students will therefore cross the Ascension Bridge from Thursday May 26 to Monday May 30, 2022. The start of summer vacation is scheduled for Thursday July 7, 2022.

Map: are you in zone A, B or C?

The holiday dates of All Saints' Day and Christmas are common to the three zones.

During the year 2021-2022, they will take place from Saturday 23 October 2021 to Monday 8 November 2021 and from Saturday 18 December 2021 to Monday 3 January 2022.

What are the school vacation dates for zone A?

Zone A brings together the academies of Besançon, Bordeaux, Clermont-Ferrand, Dijon, Grenoble, Limoges, Lyon and Poitiers.

The schoolchildren, middle school and high school students concerned go on vacation first in the

spring.

There will be no school from April 10 to 26, 2021. Summer holidays start on July 7, as in the other two zones.

For the year 2021-2022, the dates of the All Saints holidays are common to the three zones, from October 23 to November 7 inclusive, as well as those of Christmas (from December 18, 2021 to January 2, 2022 inclusive).

The following holiday dates in zone A will be staggered: from Saturday 12 February to Monday 28 February 2022 for winter, then from Saturday 16 April to Monday 2 May 2022 for spring.

What are the school holiday dates for zone B?

You are part of zone B if you or your children are educated in the academies of Aix-Marseille, Amiens, Caen, Lille, Nancy-Metz, Nantes, Nice, Orléans-Tours, Reims, Rennes, Rouen and Strasbourg.

The summer holidays start on July 7, as in the other two zones.

For the year 2021-2022, the dates of the All Saints holidays are common to the three zones, from October 23 to November 7 inclusive, as well as those of Christmas (from December 18, 2021 to January 2, 2022 inclusive).

For 2021-2022, zone B will be on vacation before the others, from Saturday February 5 to Monday February 21, 2022 for winter, then from Saturday April 9 to Monday April 25, 2022 for spring.

What are the school vacation dates for zone C?

Zone C brings together the academies of Créteil, Montpellier, Paris, Toulouse and Versailles.

In 2021, the

spring holidays

now take place from April 10 to 26, 2021, following the announcements of Emmanuel Macron.

The summer holidays start on July 7, as in the other two zones.

For the year 2021-2022, the dates of the All Saints holidays are common to the three zones, from October 23 to November 7 inclusive, as well as those of Christmas (from December 18, 2021 to January 2, 2022 inclusive).

In 2022, they will take place from Saturday February 19, 2022 to Monday March 7, 2022 for winter, and from Saturday April 23, 2022 to Monday May 9, 2022 for spring.

The vacation dates for the academies of Corsica, Guadeloupe, Guyana, Martinique, Réunion, Saint-Barthélemy, Saint-Martin and Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon are specific.

What are the public holidays in 2021, 2022 and 2023?

Of the 11 annual public holidays, only four do not fall during school holidays or a weekend in the 2020-2021 school year.

These are the armistice of the First World War, Easter Monday, Ascension Day and Pentecost Monday.

During the 2021-2022 school year, three public holidays will be located outside school holidays and weekends for zones A and B. This is the armistice of the First World War, Easter Monday (for the zone C), Ascension Thursday, and Pentecost Monday. Pupils in zone C will therefore benefit from a day without additional school. This is the harsh law of the calendar.
