The Minister of Interior and Municipalities in the Lebanese caretaker government, Brigadier General Muhammad Fahmy, discussed in his office today with the Syrian ambassador to Lebanon Ali Abdul Karim the general conditions and the provision of facilities for Syrian citizens living in Lebanon and wishing to exercise their right to vote in the presidential elections.
Ambassador Abdul Karim said: “The visit is to request support, care and coordination to receive the Syrian citizens on May 20, the date of the presidential elections,” noting that Minister Fahmy promised to provide all capabilities to ensure the smooth running of the voting process and the arrival of Syrians from all Lebanese regions.
Last month, the Syrian embassy in Beirut witnessed a large turnout of Syrian citizens in Lebanon to register their names on the electoral lists.
