Variant viruses have flowed into Hong Kong. The Centre for Health Protection announced today (May 6) two new cases of new coronary pneumonia, both of which were imported cases, arriving in Hong Kong from the Philippines and Indonesia respectively.

Close contacts of a Filipino female nurse (case number: 11672) diagnosed with the variant virus earlier went to Deep Water Bay Beach on April 25 and May 1 to meet with friends, even though there is no information about the relatives and friends. If confirmed, quarantine will still be arranged for people attending the two gatherings, and those who have stayed at Deep Water Bay beaches on the aforementioned two days must be tested for the virus before May 8.

Gathering with undiagnosed close contacts related to the variant virus and sent for quarantine

The Centre for Health Protection announced yesterday that an Indian male (case number: 11643) and a Filipino female nurse who had been diagnosed with the variant virus had attended a gathering of relatives and friends of a Filipino female nurse in Xinghua (2) Village, Chaiwan on April 13. The three people then went to 37 Fuk Wing Street, Sham Shui Po, where they met with three other Filipino domestic helpers who had confirmed the variant virus and believed that the case was related.

Today, a close contact of a Filipino female nurse’s relatives and friends has not been listed as a confirmed case for the time being, but the center pointed out that they went to the beaches of Deep Water Bay on April 25 and May 1 in light of the involvement of the N501Y variant strain. Friends at the gathering must undergo compulsory quarantine.

Those who have been to Deep Water Bay beaches on the above two days must undergo compulsory testing on or before May 8.
