- 1.5 million seconds of sport: that sounded a lot to the ears of the members of the Arminia Lauterbach shooting club.

Nevertheless, they accepted the challenge and took part in a six-and-a-half-week competition organized by Raiffeisenbank München-Nord, known as the “Easter Challenge of the Associations”.

There was a prospect of 3,000 euros in prize money.

There was nothing to lose.

With their yes to the challenge, the participants committed to collect 15 bags of rubbish. And as a small, colorful extra, the children of the village would blow out an Easter egg for every 10,000 seconds of sport, paint it and hang it on a tree at the fire station. The organizers thought it would all be possible with around 20 participants.

More and more members and fans got involved with jogging, walking, rowing, riding, cycling and even swinging hula hoops. From the beginning of 14, the number quickly increased to 54 participants. Support came from Franconia or even the distant Rheinhessen. And all of this in compliance with the current corona restrictions. The seconds of sport performed added up in a flash. The “statistician” in the organization team was able to show steep curves every week in his highly professional graphics. It quickly became clear that the "half-time bonus" was secured. The children couldn't keep up with blowing out and painting the Easter eggs.

When the weather was nice, you could see blue challenge rabbits running through the village in Lauterbach. The marksman and her partner made the whole town smile. In general, the organization team never tire of keeping its participants happy. Once the “Hasis” brought the children sweets as a thank you for painting their eggs, and the Lauterbach families went on a “fairytale” scavenger hunt through the woods and fields. The children had to find eleven stations, guess well-known fairy tales and complete skill tasks. Although they were lured on the wrong track several times, the little participants mastered everything excellently and were able to secure a treasure in the end.

What all the different participants experienced during the "Challenge" was posted by the organization team on Instagram according to the announcement (sv_arminia_lauterbach). And here, too, things picked up speed unexpectedly: the portfolio changed more and more from brave landscape images to photo stories of entire rabbit families and finally videos of extraordinary craftsmanship, such as the hula hoop tire swing. Even a challenge rabbit with clearly excessive speed was spotted. Another work of art was created in secret during this time: Andreas Sonnenberger created a statue of the Challenge mascot. In the end, the Lauterbach people more than doubled their set goal, namely to 3 404 880 seconds, which corresponds to around 945 hours! The set goal of 1.5 million seconds was exceeded by 127 percent.A trailer full of bulky waste and countless beer bottles came with the 22 garbage bags collected.

The performance of the little ones, who blew out 340 Easter eggs, painted them and hung them up at the Lauterbach playground, was unsurpassed.

The biggest win was a completely different one: This competition not only got the citizens going, but above all the corona-weakened club life.

Who would have thought that the Lauterbach riflemen would one day exchange ideas on the screen in a zoom meeting?

Now everyone is hoping that the momentum and motivation for club life can continue to be maintained.
