“No walking on the lawn” or “Please don't play football here”: Bad Tölz wants to get away from such restrictions - in favor of a “playable city”.

Bad Tölz

- a good fifth of Tölz residents, 3659 in numbers, are younger than 18 years of age.

An impressive graphic showed the councilors in the Tölz finance committee where the children and young people live and what age-appropriate playgrounds and leisure areas are like.

Already under Mayor Josef Janker the order was given to examine the status quo and to explore and realize the possibilities of a “playable city”.

Successor Ingo Mehner added the idea of making available space unbureaucratically available.

The graffiti art under the Isar bridge, the redevelopment of the dirt park together with extremely committed parents (there was a lot of praise in the committee) were examples cited by the head of the Tölzer youth development program, Franz Späth.

The mayor himself, father of two boys, expressly encouraged Johanna Pfund (Greens) to get away from the you-must-not mentality of the past.

23 of all teenagers under 18 live in the General-Patton Street area

Of course, you are allowed to play on the lawn in the spa gardens.

And: It is not for nothing that benches have been set up on the popular Anton-Holzner-Promenade on the Isar.

“The city is what you make of it,” is his guiding principle.

What is the state of play and leisure areas in Tölz?

The quality of the existing playgrounds is mostly okay, summed up Späth.

One of the most important findings of the survey is that 23 percent of all young people up to the age of 18 (= 841) live in the area of General-Patton-Straße.

The playground situation is good in the east of Tölz.

There is also the dirt and skate park.

Suggestion here: Roof some seating areas.

In other respects, too, young people want rain-proof meeting places.

Not enough play areas for older children and young people in Bad Tölz

It looks different in the south of Tölz.

For older children and young people in particular, there are too few play areas and places to stay.

The keyword Girlitzer Weiher was mentioned several times during the meeting.

At the time, it was the impetus to develop an overall play area concept.

Especially in the south of Tölz and in the bathing area there are too few playgrounds, especially for older children and young people.

There are also few playgrounds in the bathing area, except on the Isar.

Späth also considers it important to make the parks accessible as places to stay for families.

A suggestion from youth development for small measures with a big impact: For example, lending out game boxes (Frisbee, badminton etc.).

Späth thanked the children and young people who had participated in a survey in the summer (by postcard).

The fact that one of the kids got through with the application for a graffiti wall was also a very important sign for the youngster that he could make a difference.

Equip parks in Bad Tölz with streetball baskets

Franz Späth imagined a bike rally through Bad Tölz to the playgrounds as one of the “kick-off events” for the current year.

After all, he recalled, this year the youth development program will be 25 years old.

There should be a city map for children, which - a suggestion by Ulrike Bomhard (FWG) - should also be available at the tourist information office for family vacationers.

Individual play elements (such as a streetball basket) should be set up in parks and playground furniture should be built in the children's summer.

He also received a request from scouts for an event in Vollmöller Park on Benediktbeurer Strasse.

Finance Committee wants the project "Playable City" to continue

Filiz Cetin (SPD) asked to think especially of children with a migration background who do not speak German very well.

Karsten Bauer (CSU) complained that shortly after the beach volleyball court was opened, broken glass had already been discovered in the sand.

He encouraged all young adults to influence their peers "so that such nonsense doesn't happen".

The youth promotion and city administration were unanimously authorized by the committee to pursue the project “Playable City” in a targeted manner and to develop an implementation roadmap.

By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our new, regular Bad Tölz newsletter.
