As of yesterday, the total area of control of desert locust insects in Damascus governorate and its countryside reached 7755 dunums, according to the Director of Agriculture in Damascus Countryside, Eng. Irfan Ziada.
In a statement to SANA, Eng. Ziada confirmed that the work of monitoring and controlling the insect is still continuing in all agricultural fields to ensure the safety of agricultural crops, indicating that the areas in which desert locusts were controlled yesterday amounted to 480 dunums in the two pesticides “Dynamathrin” and “AC” in the areas of Al-Qadam, Al-Dahadil and Bayader. Nader in Damascus and Eastern Daraya in Rural Damascus.
Ziada pointed out that there are "minor damages" to the newly growing plants due to the locust groups, stressing that the operations of combating them are continuing to expel what remains of them outside the borders of the agricultural lands.
