The city council approved the amendment to the statutes.

Germering

- The term of office of the current Environmental Advisory Council officially ended at the end of 2020.

Because no meeting was possible for almost the entire previous year due to Corona and no new advisory board could be elected, the 18 members and their deputies remain in office on a provisional basis.

The chairman Herbert Krause and his colleagues used the additional time and thought about the future of the committee.

Krause already demanded at the beginning of January that the new advisory board should be smaller.

To be able to work effectively, twelve members are sufficient.

The city administration and the parliamentary groups of the city council then started to work out a new statute.

The aim should be to streamline the work of the advisory board.

The result has now been unanimously approved by the city council.

The advisory board will therefore only have 13 members in the future.

Seven must come from organizations, with conservationists and hunters each represented by two, the areas of mobility, climate justice, agriculture, forestry and home ownership by one member each.

The six other advisory boards should have specialist knowledge in the areas of environmental, landscape, nature and climate protection.

If possible, these six places will be filled on an equal footing.

There will no longer be a deputy in the future.

A counter-proposal by the Greens not to do without the deputies was rejected by a majority.

The term of office of the advisory council previously corresponded to that of the city council.

It began with the appointment by the newly elected city council and ended in December of the year in which the term of office of the city council ends.

These six years will be halved in the future.

The new statutes regulate this as follows: "The term of office begins with the appointment and ends at the end of three years." This also applies to members who were later appointed to the committee.

With the shortening of the term of office it is hoped to be able to attract the interest of younger Germeringers in a work.
