Prime Minister Boris Johnson's Conservative Party recorded a historic victory in Hartlepool, electing an MP for the first time in more than fifty years in this Labor stronghold in north-east England, official results announced on Friday.

According to these results, among the first to be announced after the local and regional elections held on Thursday, Conservative candidate Jill Mortimer won 15,529 votes, nearly double the score obtained by her Labor opponent Paul Williams (8,589).
