The Center for Food Safety today (7th) urged the public not to consume a raw goat cheese imported from France under the brand name Janier.
A spokesperson for the Center for Food Safety said that it has received a notification from the European Commission’s Food and Feed Rapid Alert System, stating that the French producer found that the raw goat cheese sample was contaminated with Salmonella, and the producer involved has already recycled it locally.
According to information provided by the early warning system, some of the affected products have been imported into Hong Kong.
The product information is as follows:
Product name: Picodon Aop
Brand: Janier
Batch: 12260610, 13260610, 14260610, 15260610, 16260610
Origin: France
Importer: Le Quinze Vins Limited
Upon learning of the incident, the center immediately contacted the relevant local importer to follow up.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the importer Le Quinze Vins Limited had imported the above batches of products, and some of them had already been sold.
After receiving the notification from the exporter of the product earlier, the importer has stopped selling the affected products and started recycling, and has destroyed the remaining products.
The public can call the importer hotline 2329 8028 during office hours to inquire about the recall of the above-mentioned products.
The spokesman also pointed out that Salmonella infection can cause fever and gastrointestinal discomfort, such as vomiting, abdominal pain and diarrhea.
Such pathogenic bacteria may have serious effects on infants, the elderly, and people with weakened immune systems, and may even cause death.
