Japan extended the state of emergency in the country for another three weeks, after it was imposed again at the end of last April in four provinces, including Tokyo, to limit the spread of Corona.
France Press quoted Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga as saying today: “The number of new infections is high in major cities and hospitals are still crowded in provinces in the west of the country, so the government decided to extend the state of emergency until May 31,” after the initial date was to end next Tuesday. .
In addition to Tokyo, which is supposed to host the Olympic Games in less than 80 days, and three other regions, which are Osaka, Kyoto and Hyogo, have imposed a state of emergency in two other administrations, Aichi and Fukuoka.
Although the third lockdown measures are more stringent than the previous two times in Japan, they remain less than other countries around the world.
The restrictions include, in particular, limiting the activity of some businesses, in particular imposing the temporary closure of bars and restaurants that serve alcoholic beverages at risk of a fine.
The country is currently recording about 5,300 daily infections, while the epidemic has caused the death of about 10,500 people since the beginning of last year.
