Now it's not just paintings that come into the shop window: The Art Fertilizer Association from Valley turns shop windows into a stage.

Actress Lydia Starkulla reveals in an interview.

Holzkirchen / Valley

- The visual arts first came into the shop windows with paintings and photos.

Now Valleyer Kunstdünger is also bringing the performing arts into it: the actresses Lydia Starkulla and Christiane Ahlhelm turn the shop windows of the Holzkirchen community library into a stage and offer a piece of culture en passant and in conformity with the corona.

For the first time last Saturday at the weekly market, and if you open your eyes there in the future, you might see someone in the shop window again.

In an interview, Starkulla explains how the “Schaufensterbühne” project came about, which the Kulturvision association sponsored, and what the oracles and poetry lottery are all about.

A few weeks ago you could see paintings in the windows of the Holzkirchen community library.

Now they became a stage.

How did that happen?

“It all started with our idea, with which we approached Kulturvision in January and then together with the Holzkirchen community.

First of all, you wanted to hang art in the shop window.

When it was clear that the lockdown would take a long time, we tried again with the real people in the window, asked the district office and the public order office for permission.

Nobody knew whether such an event could be held.

There were conditions such as not to advertise.

Then came the okay. "

"A little bit exciting and a little bit different"

What was it like to be in front of an audience again after such a long break?

“Nice, a little bit exciting and a little bit different.

This communication is a one-way street.

Only the audience hears us.

A new situation for everyone.

But that was exactly what was fun.

After such a long time of everyday life and without new impulses, I think it can't be unusual enough at the moment. "

What exactly could you see?

"Lots of windows, yourself in the mirror and us behind the pane, from where we asked, Would you like to consult the oracle or take part in the poetry lottery?"

Because the library has no awnings or shutters, the sun hits the window unchecked.

We accept that because we want you to see, to stop and just take a look.

The inhibition threshold should be low.

Maybe now we will not only catch people who lack culture and who otherwise go to the theater, but also someone who did not know how well a poem can do something like that, how nice a little bit of madness can be. "

Was the format clear from the start, or how did it develop?

“On the whole, the idea was clear to us, but we allow ourselves the fun and flexibility to do whatever occurs to us.

Who knows how often we'll do this?

One advantage of this crazy Corona time: Because everything has become unplanned, there is also a lot of scope and development for us.

The short, small performances will remain as long as no spectators are allowed to gather. "

Feel the energy between the stage and the audience - at a distance

And how was it accepted?

Can you feel that the audience is also starved for culture?

“Yes, you can feel that.

Many reacted very emotionally.

To be seen again, to hear something again that has nothing to do with Corona or everyday life.

Feeling the energy exchanged between the stage and the audience was good.

However, some people did not dare to come here.

Perhaps out of fear of having to take part.

As for the spacing, the spectators were very responsible.

Everyone has thought.

We just had to explain that someone or a household always sits down on the bench. "

Since Corona you have to think everything with new requirements.

How great was the effort so that the action could take place?

"Large.

And then still feasible.

Sure, everyone is cautious at the moment.

Nobody wants to make mistakes or start an action that slips down the wrong path because many people have nerves.

So it was good and right that the congregation approached the matter responsibly and carefully.

After the district office gave the okay, we were relieved and could concentrate fully on the content.

I thought it was great that Eva-Maria Schmitz from the location promotion in the town hall was so committed.

You could also have said that the effort is too great, it doesn't work. "

"Basically it's not witchcraft"

With the technology for the transfer to the outside world, that sounds like a lot of manpower.

“It wasn't a big deal.

Even if we usually do theater with little fanfare and it doesn't look like it, the effort is always there.

Now you notice the technology more.

Basically it's not witchcraft - even if Christiane would now contradict it.

The hairs on the back of her neck stand up when she sees the mountain with the cables.

But seriously: both Theater Kunstdünger and Ensemble Peripher have received technology from the Deutsche Theatertechnische Gesellschaft as part of “Neustart Kultur” so that they can do theater even under pandemic-related restrictions.

So I was rather excited and proud that I was able to unpack the system, microphones and a box full of cables and try them out. "

What's next?

Will there be further appearances in the shop window stage?

“We really hope so.

If I have my way, it could be a model that will compensate for the fact that events are not yet possible for a while.

Let's be surprised and let's stay flexible.

If I have learned one thing this year: It will turn out differently than you imagine it to be.

But that's no reason not to. "
