Members of the DAB Legislative Council Zhou Haoding and Ge Peifan welcomed the Judiciary’s recommendations and believed that they would help enhance the transparency of the complaint mechanism for judges.

Ge Peifan said that the number of complaints received by the Judiciary has increased sharply in recent years, from 121 in 2018 to more than 5,500 last year. In the past, some citizens reported that the process of complaining to judges was difficult and lacking transparency, and there were also controversial complaints from superiors. The judge dealt with it. In the end, the superior judge did not agree with the complaint, which made people feel unfair and defensive.
She believes that the first-tier system proposed by the judiciary is reasonable, and hopes to explain as soon as possible who will be appointed by the public who join the advisory committee in the second-tier mechanism, and whether their identities will be disclosed.
