These jewels that tell the passion of Joséphine and Napoleon

The founder of Chaumet was a privileged witness to the love story of this extraordinary couple, and their rise to power. The jeweler is devoting an exhibition to them in his salons on Place Vendôme, from May 19, with one hundred and fifty paintings, accessories, letters and adornments.


The scenography and the 150 jewels, paintings and objects that make up the exhibition “Josephine and Napoleon, an (extra) ordinary story” have been installed for more than a month in the salons of Chaumet, Place Vendôme.

The dates of the event have been pushed back a few weeks due to the latest lockdown.

The most valuable coins have been waiting in chests.

They have just come out for the opening which will finally take place on May 19.

“In addition to the commemorations scheduled in various museums and emblematic institutions, we wanted to mount this exhibition at home, in our restored historic salons

,” underlines Jean-Marc Mansvelt, Chairman of Chaumet.

Our founder, Marie-Étienne Nitot, was the Emperor's jeweler.

He is notably the craftsman of the coronation sword that Napoleon had set with the famous Regent diamond.
