Groebenzell

- Many a member follows in the footsteps of politically committed family members.

Now it's down to work: At the top of the list are a youth club and public internet.

The new members of the youth council include the 21-year-old student Cara Rosien and the 17-year-old high school student Anna-Maria Kaunzinger.

Participation in local politics is already a tradition in the Kaunzinger family.

Not only Anna-Maria's mother, Marianne Kaunzinger, who applied to the youth council almost two years ago, worked on the Gröbenzell municipal council for six years.

The grandfather was also an active member of the local council.

With a short break, he sat on the local council for the SPD from 1975 to 1984.

The great-grandmother was also politically active, but in the Puchheim municipal council.

The background: Gröbenzell only became a municipality in 1952, at that time the Gröbenzell district in which it lived was still part of Puchheim.

Politics was and is always an issue in the Kaunzinger family.

The statutes are about to be changed

Cara Rosien is also important to have a say in politics.

She sees her participation in the youth council as a "super opportunity to help make decisions in the community." She is convinced: "Everyone should use their political voice."

Both already have specific ideas about what they want for the Gröbenzell youth.

“We would be happy to have a place where we can meet,” explains Rosien.

However, they do not have a specific room in mind.

Kaunzinger believes that something like this would be ideal on Bahnhofstrasse.

Rosien also wants WiFi hotspots and that the community becomes more sustainable.

An amendment to the statutes for the youth advisory board has already been requested: There should be no election as chairman.

“We all want to be equal,” emphasizes Rosien.

For example, the chair should change every two meetings.

361 young people voted

Almost 2,000 young people between the ages of twelve and 21 had received a ballot from the town hall for the election of the youth council, 361 took part.

There were 25 candidates, nine were elected: five young men and four young women between the ages of 15 and 21.

“Welcome to politics”, with these words, youth officer Karin Spangenberg (UWG) greeted the newly elected members.

They should give children and young people a better hearing and give them personal responsibility and the opportunity to participate.

Spangenberg was delighted that so many of the young people from Gröbenzeller had participated in the election.

Because young people are often not noticed in community life.

The statutes regulate the rights and tasks of the advisory board: This should strengthen the interests of young people and involve those affected in political decisions.

Via the mayor, speakers and municipal councils, the advisory council can bring issues to the municipal council and issue opinions and recommendations.

"With the youth advisory board we are bringing the expertise of the Gröbenzell youth directly into the house," says Mayor Martin Schäfer (UWG) happily.

"Bombard us with requests and requests."
