Registration at the grammar schools will take place next week.

The headmistresses in the Freising district are promoting the transfer.

Nobody has to worry about Corona.

District

- The transfer certificates have been written, and now the question arises for the pupils of the fourth grade: Middle school, Realschule or high school?

The corona pandemic with the limited classroom teaching unsettles many families as to whether they can really meet the demands of a higher school.

In the five high schools in the district, one knows the worries of parents and students.

Nevertheless, you are relaxed - and well prepared.

Theumer: "No special situation"

Claudia Theumer, Rector of the Karl-Ritter-von-Frisch-Gymnasium in Moosburg, knows about the "stressful situation for all students". Nevertheless, with a view to the transfer, she is convinced: “It doesn't take any special courage to send the children to grammar school.” For them there is “no special situation”. On the one hand, there was a lot of face-to-face teaching for the fourth grade, and on the other hand the high schools are well prepared. There were good offers even before the corona pandemic - for example the “Learn to learn” course for schoolchildren and parents, but also intensive lessons in divided groups. In addition, there is now the “Sprachlich Fit” remedial course for the subjects German and English. Theumer: "I can only encourage the parents to take the step to grammar school - if the child has the qualification for grammar school." And she is sure:"They'll have a good start."

Räde: "We don't expect much prior knowledge"

Susanna Räde, headmistress at the Josef-Hofmiller-Gymnasium in Freising, “doesn't believe that Corona will make it more difficult.

The children had lessons. ”Especially:“ We don't expect that much prior knowledge from elementary school, ”she says.

In English you would start over, and you would also start over in subjects such as geography and “nature and technology”.

What the children should bring with them is "interest, intelligence and joy in school".

Susanna Räde is “relaxed” and hopes “that many students will come to us”.

And she appeals to parents “not to be put off because you think you are less prepared”.

Bliese: "We'll manage it"

Despite Corona, for Andrea Bliese, headmistress of the Camerloher Gymnasium in Freising, “theoretically nothing is different than usual”. Nevertheless, she knows about the "extraordinary conditions" for the children. And she is aware that “we take on children with different requirements”. That is why she is constantly talking to her colleagues about how to cope with the situation: “We have that on the screen that we have to be flexible,” says Bliese. And of course there will also be funding opportunities. “I'm relaxed about it,” says the headmistress. “But I'm not sure whether the parents are too.” In particular, there was a lack of personal conversations in which one could address the concerns - online counseling is only a poor substitute. But with a view to starting school, she says: "We can do it."

Röder: "Needs special treatment"

"This year we have the situation in this form for the first time," admits Manfred Röder, headmaster of the Freising Dom-Gymnasium.

What is known, however, is that the prognoses from elementary school, i.e. the transfer certificate, are extremely reliable.

“The primary school teachers have accompanied their children on a long journey.

I am very, very confident that the assessment of the primary school, together with that of the parents, will be very meaningful again this year, ”emphasizes Röder.

Conversely, at high school, of course, you know about the unfamiliar circumstances - and adjust yourself to them.

"We are all aware that special handling is required - but that is easy to handle."

Stubenrauch-Böhme: "Don't be afraid"

Juliane Stubenrauch-Böhme shares this view. “Nobody needs to worry or even be afraid. Those who are suitable for high school should definitely take the step, ”says the headmistress of the Oskar-Maria-Graf-Gymnasium in Neufahrn. The OMG is in close contact with the parents and offers a wide range of support and support - "without overwhelming the students". In addition, the teachers know about the special framework conditions. “Everyone is aware that this is a rather unusual school year. But they are all in the same position, ”says Stubenrauch-Böhme. The headmistress would like to remind insecure parents that distance learning should by no means be equated with canceled lessons. “We can see that the children have continued to learn. It is not so,as if they hadn't done anything in the past five months. ”She emphasizes:“ We're looking forward to the new fifth graders. ”
