On July 12, 2013, the Paris-Limoges derailment at Brétigny-sur-Orge (Essonne) station caused the death of seven people and injured nearly 500 other victims.
In a joint statement, the public prosecutor, Caroline Nisand, and the president of the judicial tribunal of Evry, Benjamin Deparis, announced the dates of the trial on Friday.
Eight weeks of hearings have been scheduled.
From April 25 to June 17, 2022, SNCF, SNCF-Réseau and an SNCF executive will appear before the criminal court of Évry for manslaughter and involuntary injury.
The announcement follows the closure of the judicial investigation by the two investigating magistrates on June 12, 2020.
A derailment caused by a faulty splint
Eight days before the tragedy, the railway worker involved had made the last inspection tour of the track where the disaster occurred.
As for the SNCF and SNCF network, they will have to answer for "faults", "by choice or inaction having led to the lack of renewal of the switching parts".
According to the investigations, recorded in the voluminous file of twenty volumes, it is the tilting of a fishplate in a switch that caused the derailment of the Intercités 3657. A tilt made possible after the breaking of several bolts.
