China called on France to respect its national sovereignty and territorial integrity, stressing that the decision adopted by the French Senate on Taiwan's participation in international organizations is "a blatant interference in Chinese internal affairs."
Agence France-Presse quoted a spokesman for the Chinese embassy in Paris as saying that the French move "violates the one-China principle."
The spokesman expressed China's firm opposition to the resolution passed by the French Senate yesterday, saying that "China's unity cannot be violated," noting that "only sovereign states are entitled to membership in international organizations."
