Earlier, foreign domestic helpers were diagnosed with a variant of the new crown virus. The government forced 370,000 foreign domestic helpers in Hong Kong to complete the test on or before May 9. The government stated that as of May 6, nearly 260,000 foreign domestic helpers had been tested. This means that if there are 100,000 foreign domestic helpers, they have not yet been tested.

The deadline is approaching. Some foreign domestic helpers continued to check at the mobile inspection station in Chater Gardens, Central today (8th), but the flow of people was significantly reduced compared with last week, and there was no need to wait in line.

Today (8th) I went to the mobile testing station in Chater Garden, Central for testing, but the flow of people was significantly lower than last week. The reporters stayed for an hour and saw only a few foreign domestic helpers come to the site for testing without queuing.

After many twists and turns to test the foreign domestic helper: lucky not to have to queue

The foreign domestic helper Mila said that because she had to work and had no time to do the test last week, she came here today for the test.

She mentioned that she originally planned to go to the government outpatient department for a test today. However, the staff said that today’s appointment was full, and the sample package was collected at the post office without success. So she planned to go to the temporary testing center in Wan Chai. A mobile inspection vehicle was also set up at Chater Garden, and the inspection was finally successfully carried out after several twists and turns.

She revealed that she noticed that many foreign domestic helpers lined up for testing during the holiday last Sunday. She said with a smile that she was lucky to be able to take the test today without having to line up.

When asked about the introduction of a variant virus into Hong Kong, she expressed great concern and said that if she feels unwell, she should seek medical attention as soon as possible.

Worried about the mutant virus staying at home during the holiday last week

Domestic helper Dalia mentioned that she saw many foreign domestic helpers queuing up for testing from the news last week, and her friend reminded her to "check for a few days later." I believe there will be fewer people by then.

So she took advantage of today's holiday to go to Chater Garden for a test. It was expected that she would not need to queue.

When asked about the testing arrangements of the authorities, she thought it was convenient for her, but it might not be ideal for the foreign domestic helpers who had to wait in line. However, she emphasized that as a foreign domestic helper, she would also abide by the government's requirements and arrangements.

She also pointed out that she knew that the transmission rate of the variant new coronavirus was high, so she was very worried. Last week, to protect herself, she chose not to go out on holidays.

Although it is a holiday today, she only intends to go to the church. She believes that there are fewer people in the church and everyone will maintain social distance and is relatively safe.
