the US government for alleged "interference" and "interventionism"

have clouded the virtual meeting he held this Friday with the vice president, Kamala Harris, which in principle should have focused on migration issues.

is "something reprehensible" that It supposes "promoting the coup."

"It is an opposition group of our Government," he said, "that has dedicated itself to obstructing all the works that are being carried out by promoting [judicial] protections, such as the Mexico City airport or the Mayan Train."

"Yesterday we presented a diplomatic note asking the Government of the United States for an explanation," he added, which did not clarify how exercising the constitutional right to go to court could amount to "coup."

The organization has criticized the president's words, assuring that he shows a "serious ignorance" about the international cooperation system, and has "vigorously rejected the use of concepts such as interference, interventionism or coup, uttered from the National Palace."

Nacho Lozano, a journalist for Noticias Telemundo, asked López Obrador at the press conference if he believed that the United States was financing a coup in Mexico.

"No, I think it is a wrong practice of the United States Government. To

finance groups that oppose legally and legitimately constituted governments,

" he said, "no government in the world should intervene in public life, the internal life of another country."

He also added that he would not discuss the issue in his meeting with Harris.

Regarding this meeting, and questions from Lozano, the Mexican president explained that his fundamental objective was to explain to Harris in detail his investment proposal for Central America.

"We are thinking of expanding the Sembrando Vida program, which consists of sowing one million hectares. 420,000 farmers are already working in this program. If it is expanded and supported with resources that go directly to farmers, not with intermediaries, it

could be created 1,200,000 jobs in Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador

”, specified the president.

López Obrador also referred to the need for the US government to expand temporary work visas and that, over time, residency or dual nationality can be recognized for people from Central America who want to work in the United States through this ecological program.

“The other thing that is very important is

the request to the United States Congress to allocate 4,000 million dollars and help Central America

, that is very good. The fact that [the president, Joe Biden,] has appointed the vice president, Kamala Harris to attend to the immigration issue shows that he cares and that he is not avoiding the problem, he is facing it, he is showing his face. We celebrate that ”, he concluded.
