Today, the Russian Ministry of Health announced the registration of the Sputnik Lite vaccine against the Coronavirus, confirming that one injection is sufficient to cause a strong immune response.
"The effectiveness was 79.4 percent since the twenty-eighth day after receiving the vaccination, and the effectiveness rate is about 80 percent higher than the effectiveness rates of many vaccines that require two injections," Sputnik agency quoted the Russian Direct Investment Fund as saying about the new vaccine.
The fund stated that the effectiveness was calculated on the basis of data from Russian citizens who received a single dose of this vaccine as part of the comprehensive vaccination program for civilians from December 5, 2020 to April 15, 2021.
The fund stated that based on the results of laboratory studies, the vaccine is effective against all new strains of the coronavirus, and no serious adverse events have been recorded after using the drug, as it does not require special conditions for storage and logistics and has an appropriate price less than 10 dollars and the application scheme allows one injection at a time.
