The International Arab Forum to Lift the Siege and Abolish the Sanctions Against Syria, which is organized by the Arab National Conference and the International Arab Center for Communication and Solidarity in Beirut, announced the launch of the “Arab and International People's Association to Lift the Siege on Syria” and opened the door to anyone who wants to join it in all countries of the world.

This followed the second session held by the forum today in Beirut with the participation of international personalities from the United States, Canada, Venezuela, Nicaragua, Australia, India, South Africa, the United Kingdom, France, Northern Ireland, Greece, Mexico, Argentina, the Republic of Ireland, Hungary and Poland.

The speakers at the forum affirmed their rejection of the unjust Western blockade imposed on Syria, which contravenes the simplest rules of international law, considering that this blockade constitutes a kind of collective punishment for the Syrian people and is in fact a war against humanity, and those behind it should be referred to the International Criminal Court.

The speakers agreed to consider the members of this forum, who numbered about 300 from most Arab countries and from many countries of the world, as founding members of the "Arab and International People's Assembly to Lift the Siege on Syria", which is open to anyone who wants to join it.

The forum called on the participants in it to seek each of them in his country to form national committees to lift the siege on the Syrian people in order to implement the provisions of the program that was approved in the forum and which will be broadcast in the final statement of the Arab International Forum to lift the siege on Syria early next week.

Former Lebanese Minister Bechara Merhej, one of the founders of the Arab National Conference and the Arab International Center for Communication and Solidarity, said that “the advancement of diplomatic, political, trade union and party figures from various capitals and cities of the world to speak out and raise their voice against the anti-human rights measures is a bold position,” affirming that Western sanctions against the Syrian people are A violation of the most basic human rights and the rights of peoples to live in freedom and dignity without outside interference.

Merhej pointed out that the Syrian people who adhere to Arabism, pluralism and democracy today feel more power as they see prominent personalities from all over the world defend them, their interests and aspirations, while these figures denounce the aggression and reveal its reality and its terrible damage to this authentic Arab country, which has always been a haven for all Arabs. And for all the oppressed in the region.

"Whatever the circumstances, Syria will not give up its original heritage and vital role in the region, and it will remain a shield for the Palestinian cause in particular and the Arab issue in general, and all this makes us understand why the campaigns against Syria are renewed and escalated," Merhej added.

In turn, Dr. Buthaina Shaaban, the Special Adviser in the Presidency of the Republic, affirmed that the subjugation of Syria was and still is a goal for the Western Zionist powers. Therefore, we find that they are devoting billions of oil money and mobilizing weapons and terrorists in order to achieve this goal. Focusing from a military war to taking unilateral coercive measures that are illegal in any way because they represent a pattern of collective punishment against the Syrian people.

Shaban said that the Syrian issue is of great importance in highlighting the need for a new model of the world order, and the arrogant sanctions imposed by America against both Russia and China and its blatant interference in Chinese internal affairs through what they call the Taiwan, Hong Kong and Xinjiang issue to hasten the birth of this model. the new.

"I think that the election of President Joe Biden came with the aim of reviving transatlantic relations vis-à-vis both Russia and China, but these efforts will not achieve the desired results, and this is due to many reasons, the first of which is that China represents a rising economic, technological and moral force, and there is no doubt that its alliance with Russia and with other countries, It will establish a multipolar system. ”

The first session held by the Arab International Forum to lift the siege and abolish sanctions against Syria called for the launch of an Arab and international popular campaign to end the unilateral coercive measures imposed by the European Union and the United States of America on Syria.
