Wolfratshausen

- With funds from the Bavarian State Foundation - which annually supports several hundred projects and measures in the fields of culture and social affairs - the association "Citizens for the Badehaus Waldram-Föhrenwald" receives around 7,700 euros, earmarked for the renovation and expansion of the permanent exhibition in the museum. This sum corresponds “exactly to the subsidy applied for,” said Martin Bachhuber, CSU constituency member in the state parliament, in a press release.

The total costs for the exhibition at Waldramer Kolpingplatz amount to 85,875 euros, of which the association contributes 25,000 euros of its own funds. As early as February, the parliamentary groups of the CSU and Free Voters had made available 100,000 euros from their parliamentary group reserves for the bathhouse in total in order to carry out the mediation work, the necessary research and archive work, the digitization of the materials and the connection to the school educational work at the memorial site strengthen. "This facility is unique in Germany," emphasizes the Bad Heilbrunner, because it commemorates the fate of three groups of people affected by National Socialism and the immediate consequences of the Second World War:the forced laborers abducted from all over Europe for work in the National Socialist armaments industry, the "Displaced Persons" of the Jewish faith who survived the Holocaust and found their first home in Föhrenwald, as well as the expellees who settled in Waldram from the mid-1950s . “This place offers a symbiosis of the fates of the people and the vicissitudes of our history,” says Bachhuber.

Florian Streibl, leader of the Free Voters parliamentary group in the state parliament, thanks all “those involved in the Bavarian State Foundation for having again made a lot of funds available for the renovation of listed projects in the Oberland”.

In addition, the fact that many private individuals are supported shows that the Free State values this commitment from its citizens.

"This is the only way to permanently preserve the wealth of monuments that reflect our rich history."

Reminders in the final

The 170 “memorial flowers” that have stood around the Badehaus memorial in Waldram since International Holocaust Remembrance Day on January 27th can only be admired there until the weekend.

The impressive art installation by Walter Kuhn from Munich ends on May 8th, the day of remembrance for the end of the Second World War.

On Sunday, May 9th, those interested can purchase the flowers between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. at the bathhouse.

The proceeds of 30 euros each will benefit the place of remembrance, which had to remain closed for eight months due to Corona.
