On the occasion of Martyrs' Day, Damascus Governorate, in coordination with the Directorate of Martyrs, Wounded and Missing Affairs in the Ministry of Defense, honored a number of families of martyrs and wounded by the Syrian Arab Army during an iftar banquet at the Governorate Sports Club in Kafr Sousse.
160 families of martyrs and 27 wounded from the Syrian Arab Army were honored, which included an artistic ceremony for the talents of the “Bakra Elna” project. They presented paintings entitled “The Land of Glory,” which included songs “On Steps Ahead Before Us”, “Color Your Wound”, “Ya Mal Al Sham” and “Peace be upon you.” The martyrs ”in addition to patriotic songs glorifying the martyrdom and the martyr.
A number of the families of the martyrs indicated in a statement to the SANA representative that the honor is a gesture that expresses the importance of the blood of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the sake of the homeland, stressing that the martyrs will remain the beacon that will light the way for future generations and that martyrdom is a great value to which the inspirations bend.
Governor of Damascus, Engineer Adel Al-Olabi affirmed in a speech that the blood of the martyrs is a beacon of glory, pride and honesty in our necks.
In turn, Major General Nibal Badr, Director of the Directorate of Martyrs' Affairs, indicated that the honoring ceremony is an appreciation of the sacrifices of the martyrs for the sake of the homeland, stressing that the blood of the martyrs and the sacrifices of the Syrian Arab Army are the basis of victory over terrorism, and martyrdom will remain the value of values and rooted in the souls of all honorable Syrians.
The honor was attended by Deputy Minister of Local Administration and Environment, Eng. Luay Mapa, Secretary of the Damascus Branch of the Arab Socialist Baath Party, Hussam Al-Samman, and a number of officers and Islamic and Christian clerics.
