Inspired by the universe of

Deadpool

, the book features a single mother, named Maya, who discovers superpowers that allow her to overcome human trafficking.

Deliberately vague about these abilities, the “mother of dragons” tells

Entertainment Weekly

that they would be triggered by her heroine's menstrual cycle:

[Maya]

can do a lot of things at certain times of her month,”

sneers- she does.

"I thought it would be cool to use that moment that women don't like to make her superhuman."

Feminist activist

The origin of the project was a conversation between friends:

“About three years ago I was in a car with a group of friends and I was like, 'Hey, guys, that would be really funny if. .. "And then I woke up the next day and I said to myself:" Why not? ""

.

The machine is started.

The actress surrounds herself with an exclusively female team, including the co-author of the comics, the writer Marguerite Bennett, considered by Clarke as her

“comic book guru”

.

Illustrator Leila Leiz, artistic director Isobel Richardson and artist Jo Ratcliffe have also joined the adventure, which is meant to be collaborative.

Maya's costumes, much the same as those of the punk group Pussy Riot.

New way for the actress to assert her feminist commitment.

Asked by the Women in Motion talk on the occasion of the 2018 Cannes Film Festival, Clarke said she was

"practically born an activist"

, while the world of cinema was shaken by the #MeToo movement.

Moreover, little information has been revealed concerning the content of the work.
