The Italian Matteo Berretini (10th) invited himself for the first time to the Masters 1000 final, dominating the Norwegian Casper Ruud (22nd) in straight sets 6-4, 6-4 in Madrid on Saturday. In the final, Berrettini will challenge the world No.6 Alexander Zverev, successively falling Rafael Nadal (N.2) in the quarter-finals and Dominic Thiem (N.4) in the semi-finals.
