Fresh flowers around the clock: from now on you will not only find them outside in the meadows, but also when the flowers are in bloom in Miesbach.

There is now a new machine there.

Miesbach

- Fresh flowers around the clock: From now on you can not only get them outside in the meadows, but also when the flowers are in bloom in Miesbach.

A vending machine for bouquets, arrangements and other floral gifts has recently been installed there.

Julia Antretter-Neudert (38), owner of bloom time, explains how the idea came about, why it wasn't easy to implement and how the machine is filled on Mother's Day.

Ms. Antretter-Neudert, how do bouquets of flowers stay fresh in the vending machine?

Julia Antretter-Neudert:

By getting the perfect climate for you.

Our machine keeps the temperature at a constant eleven degrees.

So we have exactly the same conditions as in the cold store at the wholesaler's.

Of course, the flowers in the 13 compartments are supplied with fresh water every day.

I do that manually with my five colleagues.

How did you come up with 24 hour service in the first place?

Julia Antretter-Neudert:

There were such machines in Germany as early as 40 or 50 years ago.

At some point they disappeared again.

However, they are still widespread in Switzerland.

Because my sister lives there, I became aware of it.

However, it was not that easy to get a suitable machine.

Why?

Julia Antretter-Neudert:

Because the technology is quite complicated.

It was important to us that all modern payment options such as EC and credit cards and even Apple and Google Pay are supported.

Of course we also accept cash.

Via Elisabeth Schwojer (owner of Elisabeths Platzerl am Stadtplatz, editor's note), who already operates two machines, we became aware of a company in Weilheim that sells these devices.

When we saw the prototype there, we were immediately convinced.

The customers too?

Julia Antretter-Neudert: Definitely

.

Ultimately, however, the offer decides.

Here we try to represent the same variety as in the store.

A colorful mix of flowers and gifts from ten to 50 euros.

On Mother's Day we will focus on roses and other warm gifts.

How do you know how long the flowers have been in the machine?

Julia Antretter-Neudert:

We replace them every other day at the latest.

So far we only had to refill because everything was gone so quickly (laughs).

Is it still worth keeping the shop open?

Julia Antretter-Neudert:

In fact, we've been asked that a number of times.

But I can reassure everyone: We are still there for our customers personally at the usual times.

For us, the machine is simply a good addition to cover the time after 6 p.m. or on Sundays and public holidays.

In other words, times when people would otherwise have to go to supermarkets or petrol stations to get flowers quickly.

Also interesting: Miesbach stores are preparing for a restart after lockdown

So the idea had nothing to do with Corona?

Julia Antretter-Neudert:

Hardly.

As a flower shop, we were allowed to stay open for long stretches.

In a tough lockdown, we served our customers through the window.

Now we just hope that the night curfew will also be lifted soon.

Only then can you really use the 24 hour sale.
