The government issued an announcement on mandatory testing on May 8 in the early morning of Sunday (May 9). Two kindergartens were on the list due to outbreaks of upper respiratory infections, including Yan Chai Hospital, Tuen Mun Mountain View Kindergarten/Child Care Center and Hong Kong Christian Service Shek Kip End kindergarten.

The announcement also stated that more than 280,000 foreign domestic helpers had been sampled from May 1st to 7th. There were 370,000 foreign domestic helpers in Hong Kong, which meant that 90,000 people had to complete the test today (May 9).

The government cited the "Prevention and Control of Diseases (Compulsory Testing for Certain Persons) Regulations" ("Regulations") (Chapter 599J) and gazetted the mandatory testing notices under the "Regulations", requiring that they have been in the New Territories during the specified period Yan Chai Hospital Mountain View Kindergarten/Child Care Centre at the side of the community hall of the Phase 1 Community Hall of King King Village, Tuen Mun, and people from Hong Kong Christian Service Shek Kip Mei Nursery School, No. 201-218, 1st Floor, Block 23, Shek Kip Mei Village, Wo Tsai Street, Sham Shui Po (Hereinafter referred to as "subjects") undergo nucleic acid testing for COVID-19.

The government explained that due to the outbreak of upper respiratory tract infection and/or influenza-like illness in the two schools, and the disease is similar to the COVID-19 disease, it is prudent to include the two schools in the mandatory testing announcement on May 8.

Anyone who has been in the two schools for more than two hours from April 25 to May 8, 2021 (including but not limited to full-time, part-time and substitute employees, students and visitors) must be on May 11 or Before being tested.

If the person under inspection chooses to use the sample bottle distributed by the Center for Health Protection for testing, he must return the test sample collection bottle that has been sampled on or before May 13.

If the person under inspection has been tested between May 6 and May 8, it will be deemed to have complied with the requirements of the mandatory testing announcement.

According to government announcements, community testing centers and mobile sampling stations in Hong Kong collected samples from more than 83,000 citizens on May 7 (including more than 22,000 foreign domestic helpers).

From May 1st to 7th, more than 280,000 foreign domestic helpers have been sampled by community testing centers and mobile sampling stations in Hong Kong.

The spokesperson reminded foreign domestic helpers who have not yet undergone the test to complete the test today (May 9).

The government reminds employers to also assist foreign domestic helpers who have not yet been tested to make an appointment online.

Tomorrow, the government will add a mobile sampling station on Beech Street in Tai Kok Tsui to provide free services for people who are subject to mandatory testing.

The five mobile sampling stations in Central and Western District (Edinburgh Square in Central, Central Pier 9 and 10, Sai Ying Pun Community Complex, Kennedy Town Recreation Ground and Tamar Park in Admiralty) will all be as early as 8 am tomorrow Or open at 9 o'clock, and will continue to provide services on May 10 (Monday) to facilitate the public to receive testing.

Together with 21 community testing centers, there will be a total of 62 community testing centers/mobile sampling stations in all districts in Hong Kong tomorrow, providing free services for people who are subject to mandatory testing (including foreign domestic helpers).

Compulsory testing of members living with close contacts

The announcement reminds anyone who has been in contact with a person under quarantine under Article 22 of the "Prevention and Control of Disease Regulations" (Cap. 599A) (hereinafter referred to as the "person under quarantine") on or 14 days before the date of the start of the quarantine. If you live in the same residence and learn about the quarantine before the person under quarantine completes the quarantine, you must be tested within two days after you learn that the person under quarantine is subject to quarantine, and by telephone within three days after receiving the test.
