Three new benches invite strollers around the Neufahrner district of Mintraching to take a break - "added value for everyone", as it was said at the press conference.

Neufahrn

- “Projects worth millions” are tackled again and again in the Neufahrn community, said Mayor Franz Heilmeier on Friday.

But it is often "the little things" that increase the quality of life in the community.

One of these “small but fine projects” has now been officially presented: three park benches around Mintraching, the installation of which the Mintraching citizen Gabriel Nayis had suggested.

There are now 253 benches all over Neufahrn

As Heilmeier emphasized at the on-site meeting (under dark clouds and in the rain) on Friday afternoon, Nayis approached him with this idea of additional park benches.

He then passed the matter on both to the two youth officers of the community, Matea Majstorovic and Johannes Steinberger, but also to the building yard manager Wolfgang Huber.

And then, everyone agreed, let it go quickly.

Huber spoke of "short, crisp communication channels" that would have made it possible to install the next three park benches in the community area.

Now you have 253.

Huber emphasized that neither the park bench on the extension of the Mintraching crossroads nor their two “colleagues” near the Mintraching sewage treatment plant and on Bajuwarenweg would have rubbish bins.

And that makes sense, after all, they want visitors to enjoy the panorama and take their rubbish with them again.

All benches are made of recycled plastic, which is much more suitable for use than wood, as Huber emphasized.

Realization of the project went "pretty quickly"

Nayis also confirmed that it was "quick and easy". He and his friends came up with the idea of new benches when two people went for walks around Mintraching in Corona times. Heilmeier found this exemplary: “It takes people who go through the community with keen eyes.” The duo of youth advisors was also enthusiastic: The project was implemented “fairly quickly”, and it took less than a month to complete the project Idea took until the benches were set up. According to Steinberger, the locations are “well chosen”, the three benches represent “added value for everyone”. And the project shows that concrete suggestions from the ranks of the population are important.

The three benches were of course not available for free: In addition to the work done by the building yard, which had laid the foundations, paved the surfaces and screwed on the benches (740 euros per bank), there were 1,100 euros acquisition costs per bank. Compared to the multi-million dollar investment by the community, it is a small project. But also a fine one.
