Open up - but please also stay up: this is how the cultural organizers plan

Concert halls, Therater stages and cinemas are allowed to open again.

This is how the cultural organizers in the Starnberg district are planning.

District - concert locations, theaters and cinemas are allowed to reopen from Monday if the incidence value remains stable below 100 (and thus in the Starnberg district).

An immediate series of events is not to be expected.

The operators of cultural houses and cinemas as well as the representatives of cultural associations are mostly happy about the political signal.

But they also point to logistical problems.

And some are skeptical about the obligation to test.

Event houses: Organization is required

Officially, it should, but is it also organizationally possible? It was still unclear on Thursday whether the theater group Wirtshausmannschaft would perform the play "The God of Carnage" as originally planned on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings in the Gautinger Bosco. Thomas Hilkert, chairman of the Theaterforum Gauting, did not have much hope that it would work. “We are currently clarifying which events are logistically possible and we want to implement them,” he says. Hilkert wants a longer-term perspective, “something like stability,” he says. Sunday evening gives him a headache. "How are guests supposed to prove a negative test that is no more than 24 hours old?" Hilkert does not expect that self-tests will be sufficient.

Albert Luppart, Pöcking's cultural advisor and responsible for Beccult, sounds more optimistic.

He wants to ask the DLRG whether they will test visitors on site.

Luppart wants to organize at least Culture Monday on May 17th.

More will be gradually planned.

There are not many fixed cultural dates in the Starnberg Schlossberghalle either, says city spokeswoman Lena Choi.

"We have the feeling that the organizers are still waiting."

Cinemas: opening up immediately is logistically difficult

For most cinema operators, a start on Monday is impossible for logistical reasons. Matthias Helwig, head of the wide screen cinemas in Starnberg, Gauting and Seefeld, told Merkur on Monday that it would not open before June 10th. “The distributor needs four to six weeks lead time for the release of a new film. So we don't have a program that we can offer. Perhaps something will be possible in Gauting beforehand because we can use the outdoor catering there if necessary. "

The mood is more positive in smaller cinemas. Michael Teubig from the Tutzinger Kurtheater wants to wait until Friday, May 14th, whether the incidence rate rises again and otherwise open. He has rarely shown films up his sleeve for the start. “The only reason I have a stomachache is because I'm not sure whether people are only being tested for the cinema,” says Teubig.

Matthias Bojen and Ulf Maneval from the Gilching film station turn on the projector in their orphaned cinema once a week - “so that it doesn't break,” says Maneval.

And: “We'll be there as soon as possible.” New films from the distributors will only be available when the cinemas open across Germany.

Normal game operations will therefore not be able to start in May.

But the film station wants to offer the senior cinema and children's program earlier.

"It doesn't have to be the very latest film," says Maneval.

He wishes that, like in 2020, there is no mask requirement when the film is shown.

“A glass of red wine or popcorn is part of the cinema feeling.

We don't just want to push people in and out again. "

Cultural associations: joy and flexibility

"Of course it's also fun for the artists to play in front of an audience again, but it's not worth it," says Dr. Heinz Hellerer (65) from the Herrsching cultural association. The events planned for May have already been postponed. From June onwards, the association wants to enable at least small groups that do not need long-term planning to perform live again. At the moment, however, Hellerer is placing a greater focus on live streams and, above all, the club's YouTube channel, on which new content is constantly being uploaded for those interested.

Dr.

Josef Hofmann, chairman of the Räsonanz Seefeld, is particularly looking forward to the sense of community that comes with performing live in front of an audience.

“It makes sense to open up to send a message that culture is possible,” he says.

His motto: Use the opportunity instead of demanding too much too quickly - even if it is not economically worthwhile for the artists or the association and actually requires longer-term planning.

The Kunstforum Gilching relies on flexibility.

Every event can be offered relatively spontaneously digitally or with an audience, explains chairwoman Hannelore Husemann-Sieber.

She emphasizes: "It is very important to me that we can finally meet again." Even if the events broadcast online during lockdown would have made the culture-hungry audience happy.

Feldafing's Mayor Bernhard Sontheim, chairman of the Jazz am See series, thinks more long-term: “I have great hope that we can pull off the winter program.

To be on the safe side, we have reserved the Beccult for almost all concerts.

We'll go through with it, even if we have to play in front of 25 people in Feldafing's Bürgersaal. ”According to Sontheim, the program for the“ SeeJazz Festival ”planned for August is also up and running, but the event itself is still on the brink: a decision will be made by the end of July whether it takes place.
