Erding - The Sinnflut cultural festival in Erding should definitely take place this year.

The planning is in progress - in the best case for two weeks of music enjoyment and market bustle from July 16.

"We assume that there will be a Sinnflut Festival this year," says Peter Feller, together with Börnie Sparakowski, Managing Director of Sinnflut GmbH.

The two and their team have planned four scenarios for mid-July.

"In the best case scenario, there will be two areas, a gastro-stage area with a large beer garden, and a market area." This is necessary because there are different Corona rules for gastronomy and sales. Feller suspects that the number of square meters per person is used for the market. The distances are crucial in the beer garden. “As our concept planned last year, we will place the tables two meters away.” They could accommodate 200 tables in this way. "Who is then allowed to sit with whom, how much, are all still great unknowns."

In addition, only 30 percent of the dealers were interested. “There aren't many of them anymore,” Feller regrets. Some musicians are also still reluctant. "Some of them live from Hartz IV and only want to play again when the situation is safe so that their money is not cut." That is why only one stage is planned.

Sinnflut is supposed to start on July 16 and last 14 days. "We had preferred the extension because we always assumed that the autumn festival would take place." The hunger of many for vacation was also an argument. The city is benevolent to the project, says Feller, who had a video meeting with Mayor Max Gotz on Thursday. This signaled that he was in favor of the festival. He also wants to invite everyone involved, including the district administration and health department, to a meeting before Pentecost in order to work out a concrete concept.

“We'll see what's possible,” says Feller. It will depend on whether vaccinated people and people who have gone through Covid 19 disease plus an initial vaccination will be allowed to go to the festival without a test. The test center is located next to the site, but it is only open until 5 p.m. “Maybe something can be done there,” hopes Feller. Taking the testing into your own hands as an organizer is out of the question. "We can't finance that."

In general, things are getting a bit tight with the finances of Sinnflut GmbH.

“Thank God we had a well-stocked war chest, but it is now almost used up.

We won't survive another year without a festival, ”says Feller.

Already now one has to complain about departures: “Our young employees, including my daughter Lea, have already left.

They no longer saw any prospects. ”However, they would continue to support the team on a € 450 basis.

What Sinnflut 2021 will ultimately look like will only be decided at short notice.
