The former “Quellen” economy in Wackersberg is currently a major construction site.

The attic is currently being renovated.

Vacation apartments are to be built.

Wackersberg - For the renovation of the sack stock, the old one was removed and a new one built.

Some walls also had to be removed.

As reported, four holiday apartments are to be built in the former inn, which has since been an artist's studio.

There is also another residential unit.

Due to the history and the fact that the “source” is a “cultural building worth preserving”, the Wackersberg municipal council approved these plans, even though the project is outside.

As owner Anton Hoefter reports on request, the work is on schedule.

“We are making good progress.” Work on the inside of the building began last year, and now this year with the roof.

"It was urgently necessary to renew this because the house was no longer statically secure," explains Hoefter.

Once the renovation is complete, the “source” will look exactly the same as before.

After the roof, there is more work to be done: Inside and on the facade, which needs to be insulated.

In addition, a pellet heating system is to be installed and the small sewage treatment plant expanded, explains the owner.

As reported, Hoefter would like the building to remain accessible to the public. So it could possibly be used for cultural events. Further plans “are currently developing”, says Hoefter. First of all, however, the renovation should be completed by the end of the year. The name "Quelle" comes from the 19th century. According to the Wackersberg Chronicle, a spring was discovered on the Sauersberg in 1856, the water of which was used as a source of healing. In 1863, Jodquellen AG erected a building there with an evaporation plant in order to be able to produce iodine products from the water. The building later became the fountain keeper's apartment and warehouse before becoming a well-known economy.
