Zarif: The responsibility for non-compliance with the nuclear agreement rests with Washington, not Tehran

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif called on US President Joe Biden to decide whether his country will continue not to abide by the law or abide by it regarding the nuclear agreement signed with Iran.

In a tweet on the anniversary of the US withdrawal from the nuclear deal, Zarif said: “While we are trying to revive the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action in Vienna on the nuclear agreement, we recall that three years ago an unreliable“ clown ”violated the US obligations under UN Security Council Resolution 2231 and today The president of the United States must decide whether his country will continue not to abide by the law or abide by the law. The responsibility lies with Washington, not Tehran.

On this day in 2018, US President Donald Trump announced his country's withdrawal from the nuclear agreement between Iran and the "five plus one" group, and the reinstatement of sanctions against Tehran in defiance of the will of the international community and in violation of international resolutions in this regard.

It is noteworthy that the UN Security Council unanimously adopted in 2015 through Resolution 2231 the comprehensive action plan that the signatories to the nuclear agreement reached in July of the same year.
