With several hundred kilos of drugs seized, it is a nice catch for the Parisian police.
A 29-year-old man was indicted on Saturday in Paris for drug trafficking before being imprisoned.
This transporter was arrested on Wednesday in Forêt le Roi (Essonne) by investigators from the narcotics brigade of the regional management supported by their colleagues from the research and intervention brigade while he had conveyed a large quantity of cannabis from Spain.
First investigations last December
After months of monitoring, this logistician was surprised by officials with 600 kg of cannabis resin, 27 kg of herb and 5,500 euros.
Another 40-year-old man was also arrested by the police during this operation but he was released after his stay in police custody.
The investigations into this case began in December 2020 following information gathered by the police on this team of criminals from Val-de-Marne.
A previous police operation had led to the arrest of two traffickers in Thiais and Alfortville.
During the searches, cannabis resin was found in bags and packages, weapons and cash.
The cannabis market in France represents around two billion euros and half of imports arrive in Ile-de-France. It is a sector of the underground economy that is said to employ approximately 200,000 people who supply this drug to 1.5 million regular users.
