Here, there is no risk of finding traces of polonium.

In Saint-Rémy-lès-Chevreuse (Yvelines), Pierre and Marie Curie came to relax, far from work.

This house in which they stayed between 1904 and 1906 has been on sale for a few weeks for 790,000 euros.

The couple came here with their families, far from their experiences and publications, during the Easter holidays or during summer weekends.

On the program: bike rides, walks, visits to the Coubertin Farm, still in operation.

The couple took advantage of these privileged moments until April 19, 1906. That day, Pierre Curie, who had returned earlier to work in Paris, died in a traffic accident.

His widow will return to the house a few times before she stops seeing her altogether.

Located at the corner of avenue Marc-Antoine-Muret and the eponymous street, this beautiful millstone has received several visits but has not yet found a buyer.

It must be said that with 200,000 euros of work, its price does not correspond to all budgets.

From the first glance, the observation is obvious: the property of 120 square meters, which has been squatted for some time, needs a serious refresh.

"You need a special sensitivity to buy it"

“We have to redo the basement to the attic through the facade, the roof, the insulation.

It's a big job, ”explains Daniel Cazou-Mingot, director of the Stéphane Plaza agency in Saint-Rémy-lès-Chevreuse.

Despite this, it has strengths: with a 900 square meter garden, "it is a millstone house built around 1890, the stones come from the quarries of the department".

Inside, the atmosphere is… special.

Unstuck tapestries, period floor and tiling, Prussian stove: one has the impression of being in another time.

Daniel Cazou-Mingot is convinced: the house, located 600 meters from the RER station and which, according to the current owner, Marie Curie painted the living room ceiling, will find a taker.

“This house has a soul, but given its condition, it doesn't appeal to everyone.

It takes a crush and a special sensitivity to buy it.

The confidence of the real estate agent is explained: for eight months, he has observed an increase in house prices "from 15% to 20%" in the Chevreuse valley.

About 40% of Parisian customers have joined its usual clientele.
