Today, the Ministry of Health received 40 ambulances from the World Health Organization, with the aim of supporting the ambulance system, which lost a large part of its fleet due to terrorist attacks.
In a statement to reporters, Minister of Health Dr. Hassan Al-Ghobash explained that the ambulances are modern and fully equipped and will start operating immediately, indicating that the ministry is constantly seeking to enhance the capabilities of the ambulance system and physical and human emergencies in coordination with international organizations and NGOs concerned with health affairs.
Minister Ghobash appreciated the efforts of all health workers, especially in the ambulance and emergency systems, who are doing their utmost to save the lives of patients.
In a similar statement, the representative of the World Health Organization in Syria, Dr. Akjamal Maktoomova, indicated that during the last three years the organization had provided 51 ambulances in order to support the health system in Syria, which suffered many setbacks during the years of war, but still provides health services, indicating that the cars are equipped with cylinders. Oxygen, first aid bags, and resuscitation devices, making them eligible to serve Covid 19 patients.
Maktumova noted the rapid response and efforts made by the Ministry of Health regarding the Covid 19 pandemic, which contributed to the virus not spreading significantly.
Director of Ambulance, Preparedness and Emergency Dr. Tawfiq calculated that ambulances include many medical equipment, including an oxygen cylinder, a flow regulator, a portable electric fluid intake device, a first aid kit, a pressure gauge, a manual resuscitation device, an electric suction unit and an oxygen flow outlet.
According to Ministry of Health figures, out of 801 ambulances are out of service due to terrorist attacks.
